The UPROAR Fund
HQ: Bellingham, WA USA
The UPROAR Fund leverages support from individuals, corporations, and foundations to invest in innovative solutions that accelerate measurable conservation action. Our partners represent the most creative and committed conservation professionals in their fields. With investment from TUF, they are empowered to address technical and institutional challenges that have prevented them from reaching their full potential, and to focus on the work that really matters – keeping the world wild.
Project Goals: $35,000
The UPROAR Fund was formerly known as Wildlife Media, a nonprofit founded in 2007 by filmmaker and naturalist Chris Morgan. Chris believes that good stories can do more than evoke wonder, inspiration, and emotion. They can be the catalyst for a movement. A movement in which conservation of the natural world is a social norm, and meaningful action is as accessible to our fingertips as a social media post.
Wildlife Media raised more than $2 million dollars in ten years to promote wildlife conservation through BEARTREK, a feature length documentary film, and through direct grants to conservationists working to protect imperiled species. We now aim to scale up that success, creating new opportunities for storytelling to inspire conservation. That's why TUF works closely with UPROAR Global Media and its Conservation Marketplace to leverage irresistibly optimistic short videos - shared on social platforms where they can reach an audience of millions - to continue to inspire support for conservation around the world.

▸ CURRENT PROJECTS
FUND IN-SITU CONSERVATION
TUF makes direct grants to individuals, conservation organizations, and wildlife professionals around the world working to make a positive impact for wildlife. We work with our grantees to help them report on the measurable impact of their work so that our donors know how their dollars are being used to help keep the world wild.
WE BRING CONSERVATION STORIES TO NEW AUDIENCES
TUF believes in the power of storytelling to engage, educate, and empower new audiences. A portion of donations goes toward the creation of new, impact-driven short videos about inspiring wildlife stories. These videos are promoted on social media and beyond to help us deliver conservation messages to an audience of millions, and inspire new and continued support for our partners.
BEARTREK is an epic feature-length documentary that follows renowned bear biologist and naturalist Chris Morgan on a global crusade to understand and conserve the rarest bears on earth. Join Chris on a breathtaking motorcycle adventure across four continents to the wildest places on the planet – uncover the secretive nature of the world’s most endangered bears, discover the threats facing them in the wild, and meet dedicated individuals racing to save them from extinction.
More than a feature documentary, BEARTREK is a conservation story wrapped in an adventure – an eye-catching way to bring bears, their incredible habitats, and their conservation needs to a global audience. BEARTREK is also a campaign working directly to fund conservation projects on the ground including the ones featured in the film.
BEARTREK is an important tool for education, exposure, and funding for the plight of bears and their endangered ecosystems around the world. BEARTREK will inspire audiences with a sense of wonder and optimism about wild places and cultures far from home.
